I’ve always enjoyed watching Nastia’s routine from the movie “Stick It,” she looks so breathtakingly beautiful while performing this FX routine (set to different music b/c of copyright complications). 

This video got me thinking, wouldn’t it be cool if they had Videographers put together stylized copies of the girl’s AA routines at nationals and sell them?  No Tim, no Elfie, NO AL!…I’d totally buy a copy.

Katelyn Ohashi’s beam routine clearly stole the show at the 2011 Woga Classic.  However, this little one (Madison Kocian), really impressed me with her confidence.  This beam routine is SOLID.  Sidenote:  Is it now a requirement that every Woga girl throws a standing arabian and switch ring on BB? 

Anyways, I really liked this routine, and it’s nice to see a rising Woga star that is coached by another member of the Woga staff besides Liukin.  Great power in the dismount; I could see her throwing a Patterson dismount one day!  Wow, ANOTHER great little Wogette….what are they drinking over there in Plano?

Amazing montage! Beautiful music and I love montages that include college gym and elite. This one has a good mix of past, present, and future too.

Who? Malina Savoaia

When? 2007-2008

What’s so interesting about her? She was one of the stars on ther documentary The Secrets of Deva together with Raluca Haidu. Malina was a member of the junior national team until 2009. By 2008 she was considerred one of the best gymnasts of her generation, with a brilliant future ahead especially because her favorite apparatus, the uneven bars, is where the Romania suffers the most. In 2008 things started to fall apart for her.  A string of minor injuries prevented her from keeping pace with her colleagues. She took part in the 2009 National Championships with rather disappointing performances. She retired from artistic gymnastics and chose aerobics instead; after a short while she switched to athletics.

Discussion point: Did you ever think that any of the gymnasts in the “Secrets of Deva” would be any good on uneven bars, given their experiences in the gym?
